Flutter or React Native? How we help teams choose
July 30, 2026 · 1 min read
We build with both Flutter and React Native, so we don't have a favourite to sell you. The honest answer to "which one?" is that it depends on a handful of practical factors.
Start with your team
If your engineers already write React and TypeScript for the web, React Native lets them reuse skills, tooling and sometimes code. If you're starting fresh or have a mobile-first team, Flutter's single, consistent toolkit is easy to pick up.
Look at the UI you want
Flutter draws its own UI, which makes highly custom, brand-heavy interfaces and animations consistent across devices. React Native uses native components, which is a good fit when you want the app to feel exactly like the platform around it.
Consider what you already have
A web product with shared business logic, an existing design system, or a native module you depend on can tip the decision either way. Check the libraries you need for payments, maps, push notifications and analytics before committing.
Think about hiring and maintenance
Both ecosystems are healthy and have large communities. Ask who will maintain the app in two years and what that hiring market looks like for you.
Our usual approach
- Write down the three or four screens that are hardest to build.
- Prototype those in the leading candidate for a few days.
- Decide based on what the team actually experienced, not on a comparison chart.
A short prototype costs far less than a wrong framework choice, and it gives your team something real to react to.
